Let Down your Nets PDF Print E-mail

Simon Peter and his companions were doing their ordinary fishing work.  A crowd had gathered round Jesus, ‘they were listening to the Word of God'.  Peter, as he washed his nets, listened too, he heard that word as a powerful, inspiring, amazing, challenging and drawing word.  He had been around Jesus for a while now; he had seen how he was with the people, his love, his compassion, his care.  He pondered his experience of Jesus and because of this, even against his own better judgement as a fisherman, ‘we worked hard all night and caught nothing', he was prepared to let down the nets again.  If Jesus said so there must be something more to happen and it did  -  an extraordinary catch of fish.  Peter recognises in Jesus God's power and abundant love at work and his own littleness.

Take time this week to ponder God's word and God's desire to work in your life too.
Where are you being invited to let down your nets despite the past?
