Services for Older People

Carnew Community Care CLG
Gorey Road, Carnew, Arklow, Co. Wicklow Tel: 053 94 26510

Carnew Community Care is a voluntary, charitable and non-profit organisation. The service grew out of a desire by the local people to provide a service for older people living in the locality. The Daughters of Charity, who came to Carnew in 1983, spearheaded the project and to-day there are 28 houses for supportive living and a vibrant Day Centre that operates on a five day basis providing a variety of creative, health and social services for both residents and persons attending from the surrounding area.

To-day, as part of a team of staff, the Daughters of Charity are an integral part of the administration, management, pastoral care and voluntary work that animates the service.

A Vincentian spirit that emphasises respect and recognises the dignity of the individual, together with a strong sense of welcome, belonging and enjoyment is of prime importance in the everyday work of the Village and Day Centre.
