The opening reflection was entitled, The Bread of other Peoples and linked the bread of different countries with the pain strife and joys of these places. Fr. Daniel focused his talks on an understanding of the Eucharist from the perspective of an understanding of a theology of grace and nature as opposed to one of sin and redemption. Here are some of the gems that he offered us!

• Everything in life is graced

• God is pure joy

• God created each of us to be manifestations of God’s beauty

• The only way to God is through our humanity

• If we don’t celebrate the liturgy of life we cannot celebrate Eucharist

• We are sacraments for each other

• The liturgy celebrates what is already within us

• Live with more depth, ‘spotting the shimmering of divinity in life’ Thomas Aquinas

• Music has an immense power to release the power within us

• We won’t honour and love the poor until we can honour and love everyone and everything

• Remove self hatred, self blame, self judgment

• Believe in God’s love no  matter what

• God created us to be sacraments of joy

• The key that unlocks the human heart, unlocks the heart of God as well’ John Chryisdom
