ECO ENDEAVOUR AWARD FOR DAUGHTERS OF CHARITY

ECO ENDEAVOUR AWARD FOR DAUGHTERS OF CHARITY

On Thursday 28th June, Sr. Catherine addressed the Daughters of Charity at their Provincial meeting in Dunardagh Blackrock. The Sisters have been working on aspects of Laudato Si in relation to awareness raising, reading and sharing on the encyclical and sharing on the small practical steps we’ve been engaged in in an effort to respond to the many challenges of Laudato Si. In 2016 the Sisters in their Province Statement collectively wrote the following statement.

‘As a Province we commit to working towards becoming a member of Eco-Congregation Ireland. ‘Our focus as a Province is to eliminate the use of plastic, while each local community will continue to take responsibility for the actions they are already engaged in.’

(Province Meeting Saturday 28th June 2017)

Recently all the work that had been done was sent to Eco Congregation Ireland in the form of a report and as part of our journey. Just before our Provincial Meeting this year, Sr. Catherine contacted us to say that she would like to present us, The Daughters of Charity with an Eco Endeavour Award. This is another step in our journey to becoming a member of Eco Congregation Ireland, a goal which we set ourselves at our Province Day on Saturday 28th June 2017. Sr. Phyllis will read this statement during the 1st part of our Liturgy today and Sr. Catherine will present Sr. Goretti with this award.
