St Mary’s Kilbegnet.

This parish church named St Mary’s in the village of Kilbegnet on the Roscommon – Galway border, has a beautiful surprise when you visit.

There is an unexpected delight as you begin to move up the centre aisle.  A beautiful mosaic in the floor. The back Miraculous Medal – the M and the Cross entwined with the twelve stars surrounding them.

The church dates back to the mid nineteenth century. Some renovations have been undertaken in the more recent past and this mosaic is one of the welcome additions to the church.

It was a wonderful surprise to find this and reminded me of that God is one of surprises once again.
